UNC Chapel Hill’s Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES) would like your help to promote our FREE global challenge to students in your area who work with you and your company and from any other alma maters you may have. We will provide you with everything you need: a template email and a flyer, which also has a list of projects by last year’s finalists. All you need to do is email or call the students and/or schools you know to offer them the opportunity to form a team.
ACES is proud to support the 2022 Careers with Impact Forum—Making your Mark! The event is open to the public and will highlight business innovators who have advocated for sustainable change and made an impact within their organization. It will be held at UNC Kenan-Flagler in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on October 28, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM. The day will conclude with a keynote by Jim Geike, Partner at One Better Ventures.

The Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES) expands our 20+ years of sustainability coursework for MBA students as Sustainable Enterprise becomes a full concentration.
We are thrilled to be joined in our work this summer by 11 amazing student interns. The interns are divided into two teams: the Communications, Marketing and Multimedia team and the Finance and Investment team. Future newsletters will feature their work.
From May 16-20, 2022 the Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES) hosted BLiS (Business Leaders in Sustainability) summer interns and ambassadors for a sustainability orientation experience in Asheville, NC to engage both local alumni and other professionals in our work. The Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School has received an estate gift valued at $11 million from the late Charles S. Ackerman (BSBA ’55). The center provides education, research, outreach and best practices to accelerate progress in social and environmental sustainability using profitable business solutions. It will be renamed in his honor: the Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES).
Exciting news--Professor of the Practice in Strategy and Entrepreneurship and CSE executive director Jeff Mittelstadt has received the 2021-22 Student Undergraduate Teaching Award. The award was established in 1989 to recognize outstanding undergraduate instruction by both faculty and teaching assistants. Recipients will be recognized for this honor at the Chancellor's Awards Ceremony in the Great Hall of the Student Union at 3pm on April 19. Join the CSE team in congratulating Jeff on this well-deserved recognition!
UNC-Chapel Hill student athletes have partnered with the Center for Sustainable Enterprise (CSE) to create the Student Athlete Sustainability Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to help student athletes connect their values and business interests through learning and leadership opportunities that fit with their structured schedules.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the LIFT Challenge sponsored by Bank of America! We had 45 student teams indicate their interest in the challenge, 13 were considered in the first round and we had 8 team compete in the finals on February 4-5, 2022.

We are thrilled to announce that UNC Kenan-Flagler moved up from #40 globally to #16 in the 2021 Corporate Knights’ Better World MBA ranking (from #10 in the U.S. to #3). This leap forward is due to the commitment and focus of Kenan-Flagler faculty, students and staff to work to make this world a better place through business. The Center for Sustainable Enterprise is the hub that supports this commitment. Our work will help continue to grow the idea of driving success in business by having positive impact on people and the planet.
