You are invited to join us for the Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability’s (ACES) annual 2023 UNC Sustainability Awards gala on April 28 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The gala is a fun and social event that celebrates our local sustainability community (you!), companies nominated for the awards, our sustainability alumni and our students! This reception provides an opportunity for innovators to share stories while we enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres (with vegan and vegetarian options), beer, wine and a signature non-alcoholic beverage. Please register by April 14.
The UNC Sustainability Awards recognize leadership and best practice for three winners: A North Carolina company that demonstrates innovation, initiative and impact in sustainability, and (new this year) an entrepreneurial business that also demonstrates excellence in sustainability, as well as a Distinguished UNC Alumnus in Sustainability. We will announce the winners live at the event and will also honor our MBA students graduating with the Sustainable Enterprise concentration.
As part of the celebration, you are also invited to our Student-Athlete Sustainability Initiative showcase featuring speakers working at the intersection of sustainability and sports including Bennett Wetch, Sr. Director of Sustainability Analytics at Nike, and John Hwang, CEO of PLANLED. The showcase also takes place on April 28 in the same location, from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM. Registrants will also enter the sweepstakes for a baseball signed by Mariano Rivera! Mariano will not be able to join us in person, but is part of the PLANLED team.
