Raouf is pursuing his MBA from the Kenan-Flagler business school, with a focus on two of his passions – technology and sustainability. The social impact of business, technology in particular, is a topic close to his heart. As an engineer in his pre-MBA life, he was always a firm believer in the transformative power of technology and its frontline role in addressing the biggest problems of the world. While he enjoyed solving technical problems, he decided to pursue an MBA to move to a role with a greater impact and contribute to addressing the biggest challenge the world is facing now–moving towards an environmentally sustainable and socially equitable world. His career goal is to become an industry leader who maximizes technology’s contribution to sustainable enterprise, by being mindful of the long-term impact of technical and business decisions. As an MBA Kenan scholar, he is working with Dr. Olga Hawn to research how corporations set sustainability goals and best practices to help them achieve their goals. He is excited to support the Center’s efforts to prepare the business leaders of tomorrow in their quest to understand how to best balance the pursuit of shareholder value with environmental and social growth.
