Kitty Simmonds is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a sustainability track at UNC Chapel Hill. As an ACES intern, she will be researching renewable energy in North Carolina, specifically wind and solar. Renewable energy is of interest to her because the modern world is so intertwined and dependent on energy; making energy sustainable is a large step towards a cleaner earth. She is excited that researching renewable energy will allow her to explore many other industries and their overlap with energy with their endless possibility for improvements and innovation.
