On October 28, 2022, the KFBS MBA Net Impact held its annual Careers with Impact Forum (CWIF). The event offered MBA and undergraduate business students the opportunity to learn from incredible business leaders about the skills and perspectives needed to launch an impact-driven career in business. This year’s event was titled “Making Your Mark” and highlighted business innovators who have advocated for change and made an impact within their organization, making it more compassionate and sustainable for the planet and those living on it. The breakout panel topics, which included Sustainability Consulting, Designing Healthy Communities, Leading Change, and Sustainable Operations, gave students actionable lessons that they can apply to their roles post-graduation. So often students think that they must wait several years before they can have an impact in their role. The industry professionals who joined us for these panels showed them how to have an impact now. The event also featured Impact@UNC, a showcase of impactful organizations that make our campus and our state a healthier and fairer place to live.
The event was wrapped up with a keynote speech by Jim Geikie of One Better Ventures, a B-Corp certified venture capital firm based in Raleigh. Mr. Geikie shared his deep understanding of the CPG product space and experience with building up brands that stand apart from competitors in terms of their sustainability and social impact.
“We would like to thank our continuing sponsor BASF, and our new sponsor, Implement Consulting, as well as ACES for their support,” stated Ian Harten, VP of Careers with Impact with Kenan-Flagler’s MBA Net Impact chapter.
