Isin Guler Aran examines issues related to innovation strategy and international expansion. In her early work, she examined why venture capitalists fail to terminate investments in portfolio firms. Her recent publications have taken a social network approach to understanding why pharmaceutical firms achieve success in research and development. She also examines international expansion strategies of venture capital firms from a network perspective.
Dr. Guler Aran comes to UNC Kenan-Flagler from Sabanci University’s School of Management in Istanbul. She has previously held positions in UNC Kenan-Flagler and Boston University.
Her work has been published in prestigious research journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management, Strategic Management Journal and Journal of International Business Studies.
Dr. Guler Aran is an editorial board member at Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal.
She received her PhD in management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also earned her master’s degree in managerial science and applied economics. She received her MBA and her bachelor’s degree in management from Middle East Technical University.
